Pros
Spacious seating, outlets so I could keep my laptop and phone charged, nice staff, and nice scenery.
Cons
WiFi connectivity was nonexistent in certain parts of the trip, but that was mostly due to being in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Also the trip was delayed 2 hours due to engine failures in Philadelphia.
Tips
Get food fast from the cafe cart since they ran out of many options towards the halfway mark of the trip. This would’ve happened sooner had Amtrak not offered a second train to Harrisburg which 90% of the travelers left for instead of waiting the delay out.

Pros
I enjoyed riding the train home after our vacation. The Philly station was neat to see, and the staff was helpful and kind.
Cons
The rear car of the train was hot and uncomfortable. We moved up a car after checking with the guy running the Cafe. Left side of rear car outlets were not working and wifi was poor.
Tips
Long trips on a train can be uncomfortable and feel like they take a very long time. Better than bus but may be quicker way to travel. Was very senic and different though.

Pros
The station and staff and Lancaster were impeccable and attentive.
Cons
Train staff was very curt and gruff. Full train made sitting together impossible. Ideally, would like a truly reserved seat, rather than open seating.
Tips
If boarding in Lancaster, let them know that trains are heavily booked but seats open up at the Philadelphia 30th St. Station.

Is there WiFi on a Amtrak Pennsylvanian train?

Yes Amtrak Pennsylvanian offers WiFi connection onboard their train trips. Though most trips with Amtrak Pennsylvanian will have WiFi as advertised, some trips might not come equipped with WiFi, and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a film just to play it safe. Amtrak Pennsylvanian WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favourite show.

You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbour might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power points, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power point USB converter that typically comes with most phones and tablets. Since Amtrak Pennsylvanian might sometimes use replacement train vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.
