Fargo to Minneapolis

Pros: Most of the stops were made as planned and roughly on time. For a 4+ hour trip, only being 30 minutes late in the end isn't terrible. Cons: The scheduling could be just a bit tighter. There are a lot of variables but I would have preferred to arrive when the schedule said I would. Tips: This is no fault of the bus company, but there was a man who sat right next to me for hours who made me very uncomfortable. Incessantly starting conversation, offering me beverages, "falling asleep" with his head on my shoulder. As a female solo traveler I did what I could by sitting as close to the bus driver as possible, but still ended up in an unpleasant situation for most of the ride. Just something to keep in mind if it's your first time and you are wondering what to expect. This was a negative experience that will unfortunately probably bar me from using the bus again if I'm by myself. I felt unsafe.

La Crosse to Madison

Pros: I enjoy being able to use travel time to read and relax. Cons: We left a bit late and we arrived in Madison a bit later than scheduled. MIssed my metro bus connection so needed to be patient for the final leg home. The toilet was not able to handle the amount of toilet paper that accumulated in the bowl. Did not want to risk flushing it in fear of clogging. Tips: Be patient and realize everyone is doing the best they can.

Fargo to Minneapolis

Pros: The driver was very friendly, communicative and helpful throughout the ride, and the driver made sure we arrived at the destination on time. Cons: Holding customers accountable to clean after themselves more often. The WiFi service needs to be improved big time, I used the WiFi for only 10 minutes and I couldn’t use it again for the rest of the ride very frustrating. Tips: The Jefferson line is reasonable and affordable for travel. It leaves and arrives on time so don’t be late.

Jefferson Lines Bus Guide & FAQs

Yes, Jefferson Lines offers WiFi on their buses. Although most trips with Jefferson Lines will have WiFi as advertised, some buses might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. Jefferson Lines WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

Yes, there are power outlets onboard Jefferson Lines buses. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbor might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power outlets, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a USB power adapter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since Jefferson Lines might sometimes use replacement bus vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

We also suggest packing a reusable water bottle with you to reduce your impact on the environment. However, note that most buses do not allow you to bring your own alcoholic drinks.
