Pros: Scenery was gorgeous! Fall colors at bird peak! Cons: The train needs to be updated!!!! Felt like I had stepped back in time to WWII. Lighting was dim, cabin had an odor. Tiny, curved, narrow, and steep stairs to schlep heavy luggage up and down. Bathrooms were sketchy- looked like a prison cell. I didn’t expect luxury accommodations but was shocked at the stark bland and dated decor. No WiFi the whole time. Tips: Check your bags. Maneuvering up those narrow stairwells was hazardous.

Pros: The conductors were friendly and funny. They also gave information as we traveled to give us knowledge of what we were seeing as we went along the route. All the staff were helpful and courteous throughout our trip. I am disabled and they helped accommodate my needs. Cons: Better air conditioning. Tips: Amtrack is a great experience and should be put on everyone's bucket list. Just the short travel from Grand Junction, CO. to Denver, CO. was the best especially with the fall colors.

Pros: My first train travel experience and I loved it! Amtrack’s staff and their service is exceptional. A wonderful surprise. Cons: Not much except Wi-Fi would be nice. But, I used my iPhone hotspot which was fine. The electrical outlets worked so there was no issue with charging my iPad and phone. It would be nice if outlets were placed individually nearer to each seat. Tips: Book early if you want a sleeping car bedroom or berth.

Pros: Nothing. My husband and I were looking forward to a scenic ride through the Rockies… but the 10:30 AM departure was moved back to 6:40 PM. We spent hours in the terminal and then after boarding the train, the sun set and we were in coach seats trying to get some sleep. We arrived in Denver at 3:30 AM. Cons: Time management. Tips: Allow extra time for reaching your destination.

Pros: The option to go to the Observation Car with Air Conditioning. Cons: Punctuation and Mechanical Reliability. Tips: Plan plenty of time for travel by train.

Pros: The ability to Upgrade to a Roomette and having Two good meals on the Train. Cons: Train technology to insure punctual departure and arrival times with dependable Air Conditioning. Tips: Allow more time for Travel Days.

Pros: The scenery, historical background of the areas we were going through from the conductor. Cons: Letting know just how late the train is. Tips: For you smoker's, when they say no smoking on the train, they mean it. They will throw you off the train at the next stop, wherever that stop may be. They won't tell that until they throw somebody off the train. In fact they don't tell you any of the rules before you board.

Pros: The view. Cons: I realize the staff has a job to do, but duties should include answering simple questions from the passengers on their first Amtrak adventure. Tips: Pack light, if you want to keep track of your luggage, I suggest that put luggage above your seat. Bring lots of snacks.

Pros: Incredibly scenic and terrific way to see our beautiful country. Cons: Add available upgrades, i.e. sleeper trains, meal options, etc. Tips: Not worth it if you’re in a rush, but I hope you find the time to slow down and look around.
