The Vermonter is an Amtrak passenger train that connects St. Albans, VT to Washington, D.C. by way of New York City, with stops in a total of 29 cities. The train line provides easy access to several towns across Vermont where visitors can go skiing or snowboarding at world-famous winter resorts like Killington and Sugarbush, or simply enjoy the fresh air and unique nature of the Green Mountain National Forest.
The Vermonter has been in operation since 1995 when it replaced Amtrak’s Montrealer line. On average, the service carries about 100,000 passengers per year.
