How to Get to Soldier Field in Chicago

If you are looking to catch the best events in Chicago and the whole  Midwest, you are most likely going to be headed to the famous Soldier Field. The huge stadium near the South Loop of Chicago, currently home of the NFL’s Chicago Bears, is a historic venue that has hosted numerous well-known events throughout the years.

The venue has welcomed legendary musicians such as Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash and The Eagles, as well as top-notch millennial artists like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Jay Z and One Direction.

Built in 1924, Soldier Field underwent a series of renovations in 2003, becoming one of the biggest and most modern stadiums in the United States at the time.

How to Get to Chicago from Your Location

Directions to Soldier Field

Soldier Field is conveniently located roughly two miles southeast of the city’s downtown (at 1410 Museum Campus Dr, Chicago, IL 60605). Most buses and trains will drop off passengers minutes away from the stadium. If you are in an athletic mood, walking to the stadium shouldn’t be a hard task: it would take around 30-35 minutes.

However, if you choose to take public transportation, there are multiple local buses and train lines that you can use to take you to the game.

Travelers who want to get to the stadium faster, a ride-share service such as Uber or Lyft will charge between $8-$12 to take you to Soldier Field from Union Station and other nearby bus/train drop-off locations.

Amtrak Passengers

1. When you arrive in Chicago, you will get off the train at Union Station.

2. From Union Station, you will walk to the 
Jackson and Chicago River Stop to catch the 7 bus:

3. You will take the 7 bus towards Congress Plaza for four stops and get off at the State and Jackson stop. This is the route the bus will take:

4. At the State and Jackson stop, you will take the 146 bus towards Museum Campus.

5. After eight stops, you will get off at the Soldier Field and Field Museum stop, steps away from the stadium. This is the route that the bus will take:

Greyhound Passengers

1. The bus will drop you off at the Greyhound Station located at 630 W Harrison Street. From there, it is a 7-minute walk to Union Station. These are the directions that you will need to follow to walk to the station:

Megabus Passengers

1. The bus will drop you off at Van Buren Street between S Canal Street and S Clinton Street, about five minutes away from Union Station.

About Chicago Transit Authority Bus Fares

A single-ride ticket for the bus costs $2 and each transfer (up to two rides within two hours of the first ride) is just $0.25 if you purchase a Ventra Card or Ventra ticket at any Ventra Vending Machine in downtown Chicago. If you choose to pay in cash on the bus, each ride will be $2.25. You can also purchase a day pass for $10 with cash or a credit/debit card. You can find information about all fares here.
