BOSTON, MA (June 26, 2024) – Wanderu, the leading bus and train travel booking platform in North America and Europe, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Savikas as its Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Savikas succeeds Wanderu co-founder Polina Raygorodskaya, who has stepped down after 12 years of service and assumed the role of Executive Chairwoman on the company’s board of directors.
With a proven track record of driving growth, fostering innovation and building strong partnerships, Savikas brings to Wanderu a wealth of knowledge and expertise in growing and developing online marketplaces. Most recently, Savikas served as the Chief Strategy Officer of knowledge tech startup getAbstract. Prior to that, Savikas spent five years as the President and CEO of Safari Books Online (now part of O’Reilly Media). During his tenure at Safari, Andrew spearheaded major strategic efforts and transformative initiatives that led to significant growth in partner revenue and user acquisition.

Savikas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Media Studies from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Northeastern University.
Under Savikas’ leadership, Wanderu will continue its commitment to making bus and train travel more accessible, efficient and hassle-free by launching unique product features in line with users’ requests, and expanding its marketing efforts to introduce the benefits of ground transportation to both casual and frequent travelers.
