How to Get to UPenn from New York, Newark & D.C. by Bus or Train

The University of Pennsylvania (or UPenn) is an Ivy League school that is considered the fourth oldest higher education institution in the United States. Its home in Philadelphia is well known for its cheesesteak sandwiches and soft pretzels. After a scrumptious snack, you can admire its many sculptures and murals. This university is easily accessible from several cities in the Northeast.

If you want to visit UPenn, you can use Wanderu to find cheap bus or train tickets to Philadelphia from New York City and plenty of other locations. You’ll find several travel options that are both convenient and affordable. Greyhound — as low as $10

1. From the Greyhound station (1001 Filbert St. Philadelphia, PA 19107) walk to 11th Street

2. Take the MFL Subway towards 69th Street Trans Center to 34th Street Station

3. Walk to 3451 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (UPenn)

Alternatively, take a taxi from the Greyhound station for about $14.

Megabus — as low as $1

1. From the Megabus station, aka 30th St. Station (John F Kennedy Blvd & 30th St) take the Light Rail towards Eastwick.

2. Stop at 36th St. Trolley Station.

3. Walk about 2 minutes to 3451 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (UPenn).

Alternatively, take a taxi from the station for about $5.

Amtrak — as low as $43

1. From the Amtrak station, aka 30th St. Station, take the Light Rail towards Eastwick.

2. Stop at 36th St. Trolley Station.

Peter Pan — as low as $5

If you choose to visit Philadelphia from Newark, you will have several affordable options for getting there.

If you chose to visit Philadelphia from Washington, D.C., you will find a couple of travel options that are fairly reasonable.

  • Amtrak— as low as $50.

When you visit UPenn, you will be surrounded by student life that is rich not only in academia but also in a variety of other activities such as the student newspaper, the glee club, and the football team. Be sure to visit this culturally rich school and the city it calls home.
