It’s no wonder that Nyssa’s luxury travel blog, The Cultureur, has been included in Wanderu’s Favorite Summer Travel Blogs. Filled with information about the finest hotels, restaurants, and cultural elements that different travel destinations have to offer, The Cultureur shares everything that delights and inspires Nyssa during her travels across the United States and around the world.

Nyssa posts luxe guides to cities like Los Angeles, Berlin, Kauai, and Paris. Her 24/48 hours series provides readers with the best places to visit when in a fabulous city for a limited amount of time. For instance, in 48 Hours in Kauai, Hawaii, she recommends all the best parts of the island, like zip-lining, shaved ice, a helicopter tour, and a sugarcane plantation tour.

Looking for specific tips and hidden gems in various cities? Nyssa provides fantastic advice for popular destinations, such as her recent post 5 Dos and Don’ts in Napa (and Sonoma), which tells travelers how to navigate the famous northern California wineries. Readers are sure to find luxurious and helpful travel guidance and inspiration when browsing The Cultureur.

What inspired you to start a travel blog? Was there a specific reason or an event that made you decide ‘I’m gonna start a travel blog today’?

I started The Cultureur for a very particular purpose – to catalog all my travels, tips, and stories on one platform so I didn’t have to field individual emails from my personal network asking for travel advice. I’m often the go-to person for my friends and family on where to travel, what luxury hotel is best, etc. and I had emails ready to be sent out for destinations around the world, so I thought it would be much easier and more efficient to direct everyone to a link instead of having to reply to each email.

I had no long-term plans for the site and certainly did not walk in with a business approach. I love people, travel, and writing, so when I decided to transform the site into a profitable platform, I did not have to do much fine tuning, as luxury travel was already my travel style of choice and my website was simply a digital embodiment of my real life.

What have been the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of running your blog and social media presence? Do you keep in touch with your readers?

The most challenging aspect has been trying to stay on top of all the different social media channels and keeping a work-life balance. I mostly stay in touch with my readers through social media and email.

What’s your favorite place that you have visited & what’s a dream destination that you still haven’t conquered?

My latest favorite place is Iceland – I spent two months there last year. The country is absolutely magical! A dream destination right now is Cuba – I’m looking forward to visiting in 2017.

If you had one piece of advice for people who want to travel throughout the U.S. and around the world but want to stay on budget, what would it be?

My best advice would be to plan your trips in advance so you can weigh your options. And don’t forget to do your research.
