At Port Authority bus station, travelers can catch the A, C, E, S, 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R, S trains and head to pretty much anywhere in Manhattan, BrooklynQueens or the Bronx. To take some of these lines like the 1, 2, 3 and 7, riders will have to walk from Port Authority to Times Square through an underground tunnel. A single subway ride in NYC currently costs $3.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal has six levels and more than 220 departure gates. Inside the terminal, there are several cafeterias and fast food restaurants such as Starbucks, Heartland Brewery, Au Bon Pain, Jamba Juice and Sbarro. There is also a pharmacy, a branch of the United States Postal Service, several ATMs and a bowling alley, located on the second floor.


Port Authority Operating Hours

There are buses leaving the terminal 24 hours a day, so travelers can enter the station at any time. However, most ticket counters and information centers are only open during regular hours from 6 am to 1 am.

Check out Hell’s Kitchen’s outdoor flea market. Hell’s Kitchen is located just northwest of the bus terminal and it’s a neighborhood with a lot of spirit. Their market is open year-round on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm.

Have some tacos at Taqueria Tehuitzingo. There are plenty of restaurants in the Times Square area. However, most of them are either super expensive or generic food chains. If you are looking for a yummy yet affordable meal, head to Tehuitzingo. This well-known taco shop has an extensive menu of healthy, fresh Mexican cuisine and it’s open daily until midnight.
