“It makes my day when people go to a new place, whether it’s a different country or just a park across the city, because of a photo that they saw on my blog or Instagram.” – Christine Amorose

What inspired you to start a travel blog? Was there a specific reason or an event that made you decide ‘I’m gonna start a travel blog today’?

I moved to Nice, France in 2010 to study French and decided it would be an awesome way to chronicle my adventures living in a new country.

What have been the most challenging and the most rewarding aspects of running your blog and social media presence? Do you keep in touch with your readers?

It’s a lot of work and not always as glamorous as people think! The little things that no one sees or thinks about (figuring out a hosting solution, putting in SEO tags on every post, etc.) take up a lot of time and are really important to keep it all running smoothly.

That said, it’s amazing to have a tourism board invite me on my dream trip – just in exchange to take photos and write about it, which I’d love to do anyway! I try to answer every e-mail and comment that readers leave, and it truly is so rewarding to hear that I’ve inspired someone else!

What’s your favorite place that you have visited & what’s a dream destination that you still haven’t conquered?

That’s such a tough question, but South Africa was one of my favorite countries ever: it was so colorful and diverse and amazing! Morocco is still very high on my list of places I want to go but haven’t been yet.

If you had one piece of advice for people who want to travel throughout the U.S. and around the world but want to stay on budget, what would it be?

Stay in hostels or Airbnbs or anywhere with a kitchen, and then shop locally in grocery stores to be able to eat at home but still try out local foods.
