How to Get from Boston to Jersey City by Bus & Train

Jersey City and Boston may not conjure the same feelings of excitement as New York, but both still have plenty of spectacular sights and sounds. The distance between these two cities is approximately 231 miles. Normally, the trip takes about four hours.

Ways To Get There:

Things to Do:

Jersey City is said to mirror the Manhattan experience in most ways except the cost. The ferry from Liberty State Park will take you to the Statue of Liberty and to Ellis Island all through the year. Before you hop on the boat, you visit the Central Railroad Terminal where almost two-thirds of the twelve million immigrants who came into the United States of America through Ellis Island left to start their new lives.

If it is bright and sunny outside, you can walk or ride a bike [own or rented] on the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway. On the 18.5 miles path you will see, if you decide to bike it all, the Liberty State Park and the Statue of Liberty, Bayonne — a peninsular city and Hoboken — a city in Hudson County, NJ.

In Boston, you can check out the Museum of Fine Art for free on Wednesdays after 4:00 pm. Boston also has several other museums like the Museum of African American History where admission is $5 and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum where visiting on your birthday grants you free admission.

This college city also has several trails that trace the history of several immigrants who settled in the area. The most famous of which is The Freedom Trail that allows walkers to learn about the history of more than 15 sites. Other trails include the Women’s Heritage Trail, the Black Heritage Trail and the Irish Heritage Trail.
