Pros
I'd never taken the train before and it was so elegant! I'm used to overcrowded, expensive trains in the UK and this was glorious. Views down the coast didn't hurt either. Looking forward to my return trip tomorrow.
Cons
It's all pretty good really.
Tips
Sit in the lovely lounge at Union Station before you go - the staff tell you when your train is ready. Beats standing on the platform.

Pros
I got a window seat with great coastal views.
Cons
The return trip from San Diego was very crowded with quite a few people standing in the aisles. Apparently another train had broken down so our train had to take these extra passengers but there are not enough seats for them. Also, the train from San Diego to Los Angele...More
Tips
Be sure that you book a seat because around Thanksgiving, all the seats get sold out before people actually get on the train.
