First opened in 1927, the station underwent several redevelopment and renovation projects to reach its current state. In 1999, in recognition of the station's importance to transportation history, it was inducted into the North America Railway Hall of Fame. The Brampton VIA Rail station is located in downtown Brampton at 27 Church Street West. Local GO Transit and Brampton Transit buses connect this station to the Downtown Brampton Terminal for travelers continuing their travels by bus. This historic station first opened in 1856 along the Grand Trunk Railway line between Toronto and London. The current building, complete with a turreted entrance and large arching windows, dates to 1907. The station has three fairly spacious parking lots and restrooms. Aria Bistro & Lounge and The Keg Steakhouse + Bar are two popular restaurants near the station.
