Pros: I usually drive the 4 1/2 to my Relatives home in Minot, Maine an easy 40 minute commute to the Portland Station from their home. Just recovering from lower back surgery my back Dr. rather I still not drive for a couple of up to 3 weeks. He actually suggested the Train as I was going to be watching my cousins home and there dog while they took there 3 girls to Florida for a week. I went online and looked up the trip from the Westerly Train Station just 15 minutes from my home to Portland. The trip was $65.00 which is the same price I pay for a tank of gas if I drove one way. It was my first time on the Amtrak Train to Portland. It was a great trip to Boston Train Station South with an easy trip from South to North Station, I could of walked the mile but with a full back pack and recent back surgery I opted for a quick Cab Ride to North Station. I only had to wait 15 minutes to we departed North Station finishing up at Portland Station exactly on time at 2:20 pm where my cousin was waiting for me. I return from Portland to Westerly on January 5th I believe. Cons: Everything was satisfactory with my trip to Portland, Maine. Tips: N/A Everything was fine.
