Face Mask Policies

Following months-long suspension of services due to the global coronavirus pandemic, bus and train carriers are starting to resume their regularly scheduled trips. In an effort to curb the spread of the virus and maintain a safe environment for both passengers and service crew, many carriers have introduced brand new face mask policies.

While some companies merely recommend that you cover your face while traveling, others may refuse to allow you to board the vehicle unless you have a face mask. Scroll down for a breakdown of face mask policies by carrier, so that you are prepared for your upcoming trip.

At Wanderu, we strongly recommend that you wear a face mask that covers your nose and your mouth while you are on board the bus or train and while you are waiting at the station, regardless of the carrier’s official policy.

For the latest information on what carriers are currently running and when other companies are expected to restart their trips, visit our COVID-19 travel alert page.

Facial coverings can be removed when customers are eating in designated areas, in their private rooms, or seated alone or with a travel companion in their own pair of seats. Small children who are not able to maintain a facial covering are exempt from this requirement.

Customers must supply their own facial covering. Service will be denied to customers not wearing facial coverings.

All passengers are required to wear face coverings while onboard Southeastern Stages buses.

Trailways (Adirondack, Pine Hill, New York)

All customers must wear face masks at all times including while boarding and riding on the bus. Any customer not wearing a mask will be refused service and/or removed from the bus in accordance with state and local policy. The carrier is unable to provide face masks on request to passengers.
