I didn't have to drive
Fix your trains before they leave the station. We had a breakdown between Gary and Michigan. When train got back up and running, we had no AIR in our car and sweltered the remainder of the journey. It was until our stop in Battle Creek that the crew did anything.
Dress in layers and be prepared with a charging cord or a really good book.

We arrived early which was good because I was freezing.
Serious heating and air condition issues both coming and going! Serious issues. Serious.
Dress in layers because you never know how the HVAC will work. Also, be prepared to travel the enitre way facing backwards.

Take a train that is scheduled to arrive multiple hours before you need to be there just in case of delays, as they seem to be quite common.
