Amtrak San Joaquins

Pros: Wide open spaces, both in the train and scenery; unlike a cramped airplane cabin with numerous restrictions. I love riding the train for that reason. Cons: Cleanliness. The bathroom and the individual seat trays, etc. Overall it could have been cleaner. I had a much better experience on the San Joaquin on my way from Stockton to Madera going south than I did on this particular trip going North back to Stockton. Tips: For the most part it's an enjoyable, stress-free way to travel. Bring a travel pack of antibacterial wipes with you though; the cleanliness at your seat tray/window and the bathroom is hit and miss.
