Built in 1963, the station is large and fitted with modern amenities such as access points for people with disabilities as well as parking slots and vending machines. It received significant renovations in 2001, adding even more amenities to the station. Two VIA Rail lines serve the station: the Sarnia-Toronto and the Windsor-Toronto.

Local GO Transit and Brampton Transit buses connect this station to the Downtown Brampton Terminal for travelers continuing their travels by bus. This historic station first opened in 1856 along the Grand Trunk Railway line between Toronto and London. The current building, complete with a turreted entrance and large arching windows, dates to 1907. The station has three fairly spacious parking lots and restrooms. Aria Bistro & Lounge and The Keg Steakhouse + Bar are two popular restaurants near the station.
