Pros: Scenery and ease of travel. Cons: Our train was 7.5 hours late. When we purchased our tickets there was no place to choose upper or lower level. My husband is handicapped and has a walker and portable oxygen the boarding in Chicago did not want to give us a lower level car. We were able to sit in the lower level but were told to call reservations, they told me we needed to purchase lower level tickets at $170 more because tickets our tickets were purchased 2.5 months earlier. Your web site needs to specify which level the tickets are for. The conductor did let us stay in lower level with the understanding that my handicapped husband would have to go to upper level if the seats in lower level car were needed. At every busy stop we had to see if we needed to move, very stressful. Would not have been such a big deal but all bathrooms are lower level and we were going from Indiana to California, our 49 hour trip turned into almost 58. Again your website needs to clarify upper or lower levels. Tips: Make sure your aware which level your ticket is for, especially if your handicapped, also be prepared for lots of delays.
