Amtrak Acela

Pros: The train ride was super smooth. The views were beautiful of the coastlines. I also liked the quickness of boarding, no tsa hassles and the ability to walk around. Cons: The train needs to be cleaned more and updated. Cafe car reminded me of a bus terminals cafeteria.

Amtrak Acela

Pros: Being on the Acela train was nice. Cons: If I could have selected my seat prior to booking. I was in a seating arrangement where 4 strangers (2x2) were facing each other and there is not much foot space. I would have much preferred a seat that was not facing someone for the additional leg room. The trip was a bit uncomfortable, especially since the person across from me didn't quite appreciate the middle boundary.

Amtrak Northeast Regional

Pros: The trip itself was uneventful. I've used Wanderu many times to book Amtrak trips to the NY/NJ area since 2015. Cons: While it didn't affect this trip, the return trip was somewhat overpriced. I do realize this is the way Amtrak's on-demand ticketing system works though (& I waited to book my tickets until my tentative travel plans/dates had been finalized). The closer you are to the trip date (& the fewer seats available), the higher the price. Tips: Book early! If you are fairly certain of your travel plans over a month in advance, don't wait until 2-3 weeks before to book tickets. You will also often find a better deal on Wanderu than you would on Amtrak's website.
