The city is a popular spot to stay when visiting the many Virginia state parks in the area, such as Leesylvania State Park on the Potomac River. The park is idyllic for swimming, hiking, or boating on sunny days. Head to the (free!) Occoquan Bay Wildlife Refuge to see some local bird species along its four miles of trails.
Potomac Mills is the area's major shopping outlet for some retail therapy. But, obviously, it also houses a number of excellent local restaurants and cafes, and you can also find some local eateries while exploring Potomac Town Center, including locally popular authentic African cuisine and Indian restaurants.
Prince William Parkway directly links Woodbridge to the I-95, so you can start many cross-country routes from this area. Amtrak Northeast Regional trains and local VRE trains connect to Washington, D.C., and beyond. SprinterBus services that stop in Woodbridge connect to New York.
Yonkers
Yonkers is the third-largest city in New York, although it’s technically considered a suburb of New York City. Located just north of the Bronx on the Hudson River, Yonkers has its own unique appeal and its own central plaza, Getty Square, with plenty of shopping without the crowds. Zuppa, Francey Brady’s, and La Pinata Bakery are only a few blocks off the riverfront, and the fresh food is definitely worth the walk.
