The Blue Water is a higher-speed Amtrak train line that travels 319 miles between Chicago, IL and Port Huron, MI. Both Coach and Business Class tickets are available to purchase on the Blue Water, but if you’re looking to save, make sure to book early and you could find tickets for as low as $15. Blue Water trains include amenities like free WiFi, cafe service, and power outlets at every seat.
Trains departing from Kalamazoo to Flint tend to have the most passengers on Monday. With higher demand ticket prices also tend to be higher on Monday. Kalamazoo is a stop on Amtrak's Blue Water and Wolverine lines and is also connected via bus service to cities including Indianapolis, Chicago, Ann Arbor, and Milwaukee. Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport offers daily flights in and out of the area.

An industrial town in Michigan, Flint might not seem like a premier travel destination, but it does have some intriguing corners that off-the-beaten-path travelers will appreciate. One of the most popular destinations in the city is the Flint Institute of Arts, which houses an impressive collection of artworks that could rival a museum in a big city. Their collection includes pieces painted by Auguste Renoir and Mary Cassatt. If you are not a fan of art, check out Crossroads Village, a faithfully recreated 19th-century village, complete with a cider mill and a steamboat! Link to image attributionThe Kalamazoo Transportation Center on North Burdick Street includes several modern facilities surrounding the historic 1887 Romanesque train station. The central train station's Art Deco lobby maintains rich wood furnishings and cathedral ceilings for a vintage atmosphere, while it is still an active station for Amtrak's Blue Water and Wolverine lines. Facilities include restrooms, vending machines, and a snack shop. Outside, arched covered walkways serve as boarding areas for local transit, Greyhound, FlixBus, Miller Transportation, Trailways, and Indian Trails. The transportation center is only a few blocks north of Kalamazoo's Central Business District, and a handful of restaurants and bars are within a short walk.

The station at 1407 S Dort Highway is a hub for trains and intercity buses. It is a stop on Amtrak's Blue Water route, which runs from Chicago to Port Huron, as well as Indian Trails, Greyhound, and Amtrak Thruway bus services. The station has plenty of waiting room space and vending machines. During working hours, staff is always available, and it is recommended to arrive at least 45 minutes early if you are checking baggage or require assistance. There is same day and overnight parking available for those driving, and the station location on Dort Highway provides direct access to I-69.
