Amtrak Carolinian
Pros: I like Amtrak. Three of us were traveling and had the 4 seats together which was nice but there could be more space. Also, a fact of life in NC and VA is that the train is slow in part because Amtrak does not have a dedicated rail line (something that makes us look like dinosaurs compared to the rest of the developed world). However, after getting to DC, the train speeds up considerably. Cons: Better food selection, less surly cafe car worker. More space in coach Tips: Write your congressional reps and the Secretary of Transportation and plead for high quality rail!
