Amtrak Vermonter

Pros: Nearby down the road to leave and return. The comfort of little concern when the train gets underway. Cons: More specific information regarding transfer to different trains or routes. Example, train 157 to NYC, 145 to Philly. I asked my neighbors if they were heading to Philly and it was confirmed. Maybe I was on the wrong train but I got to Philly. Tips: Don't hesitate to ask any Amtrak or local transit employees for directions, they are all very helpful, because they helped me at every transition.

Philadelphia’s affordability (especially compared to other East Coast cities) is just one of many reasons it is among Wanderu’s best destinations for college students. Another reason is how much there is to do! Early American history takes precedence at Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, while museums abound on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, sometimes called the most artistic mile in the city. Head to Reading Terminal Market to fuel up for a night hitting the bars, clubs, and live music joints that line South Street.

Philadelphia is a major hub for both Greyhound and Amtrak, and its 30th Street Station is one of the busiest stations in the country. The plentitude of ground travel and the nearby Philadelphia International Airport make this exciting city very easily accessible, even on a budget.

Hartford

Hartford is the capital of Connecticut, and a New England destination with literary attractions, charming parks, and engaging activities for families.

The homes of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe, both in Hartford, have been turned into museums to learn more about these authors and their lives. If you prefer Edward Cullen to Tom Sawyer, you may appreciate that a more contemporary literary giant, Stephenie Meyer, was born in Hartford too.

The Elizabeth Park Conservancy is a spread of formal gardens and grounds where you can walk, picnic, and catch outdoor concerts or tours. Kids will love the antique carousel in Bushnell Park, as well as the hands-on exhibits at the Connecticut Science Center.
