Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: I kinda enjoyed the 4-5 hour delay in Siskiyou lol I got extra sleep. Cons: The seating space the food is over priced I know we're in inflation so I won't put that on the company entirely you have to pay overhead. Tips: Bring headphones and your own food. The cafe is over priced.

Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: Was pleasantly surprised about the space allotted. I started my ride at 10pm so almost bedtime.I normally fly and never can sleep because of lack of space. On the train I slept 4.5 hrs. The coffee could be improved but other than that it was a very positive experience and will ride again. I can highly recommend Amtrak to anyone who is doubting. Just do it and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Cons: Wifi. There was none which most customers complained about, including me. Tips: If you're on the fence, just do it and be pleasantly surprised.

Amtrak Coast Starlight

Pros: The train seats were spacious and the cross country views were spectacular. Once in a lifetime experience. Cons: The trip from Chicago to San Francisco was a disaster in regards to punctuality. We ended up SITTING stationary on the tracks for a total of 12 hours. First delay caused by freight train mechanical malfunction in Colorado. Sat for about 5 hours in the Rocky mountains while train had to be repaired. At one point train had to drive in reverse down a winding, steep mountain. Because of the delay had to sit for another few hours waiting for the arrival of a relief crew due to Amtrak crew exceeding their daily work hours. Few hours later another stand still delay due to boulder falling on track in front of train. Then ANOTHER multi hour delay in another state due another freight train malfunction. The only 'concession' Amtrak provided was a starchy potato stew bowl concoction. Aside from the abhorrent delays, the bathrooms were disgusting. Tips: Spend the extra money on the business or first class cars. Some of the coach passengers are down right scary.
