The price makes traveling by train a better option than driving. Love the ease of relaxing and getting some work done while traveling, instead of being behind the wheel. Also appreciated the Wifi service.
Cons
This trip was pretty seamless; went smoothly.
Tips
The train is a great option, depending on your destination. From Portland to Seattle, it was cheaper than driving and much more relaxing.

Pros
Loved seeing the Seahawks and staying within a few blocks at the Marriott Courtyard, walking to dinners at the Metropolitan Grille and the next night at the Capital Grille and having the best pasta in the world for lunch at Il Corvo Pasta.
Cons
Can’t think of one thing that could have been improved except we would have loved winning the game. Oh, it would be good if your staff noticed when passengers didn’t have their shoes on and the smell was affecting others.
Tips
Please don’t talk on your phone, especially with the speaker on. It is rude and I’m not interested in others conversations.

Train wasn't overly crowded. I enjoyed the food for purchase on the train.
Cons
Train was 30 minutes late.. Which would not happen on the east coast lol
Tips
Don't make travel plans on a strict time schedule. My train was 30 minutes late arriving to Portland. I didn't mind because I gave myself extra time as a buffer. However I wouldn't recommend a tight schedule when booking because it seems this train is often delayed.

Pros
I like the train but seldom travel by one. In Europe I love their high speed trains What I like most, getting up and walking around. I would love to travel overnight and retire to a sleeping berth.
Cons
There was a grinding sound behind us. It can’t be ‘normal’. Really undermined the atmosphere of the trip. I hesitate to try the food. But next time I shall. There is always the possibility that it is good diner fare.

Love this train with the leather seats. The staff is always nice and helpful.
Cons
I don't like the other train, the one with the cloth seats. (The wi-fi didn't work as well on that train last time, either.) They are so much smaller and less comfortable. The bathrooms could be cleaned mid-trip, I suppose but it's not too bad. And those last two hours ...More

Wait until everyone is seated then go find a seat by yourself. The staff is usually pretty cool about this as long as you don't stray too far from the rest of the people with your shared destination.

Immigration in Vancouver. No priority for Nexus travelers. The hour delay for freight trains seemed like very poor planning. No internet on train after border so no way to alert travel arrangements in Vancouver.

Is there WiFi onboard Amtrak Cascades?

Yes Amtrak Cascades offers WiFi connection onboard their train trips. Though most trips with Amtrak Cascades will have WiFi as advertised, some trips might not come equipped with Wifi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. Amtrak Cascades WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends, you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

Are there power outlets on a Amtrak Cascades train? Are there USB plugs?

Yes, there are power outlets onboard Amtrak Cascades train trips. You can generally find one or two plugs per row of seats, so be a good traveler and check if your seat neighbor might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power outlets, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a power outlet USB converter that typically come with most phones and tablets. Since Amtrak Cascades might sometimes use replacement train vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power outlets. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

Does Amtrak Cascades offer will call tickets, that you pick up at the station?

No, currently Amtrak Cascades does not offer will call tickets. You should purchase your tickets online and make sure you have everything you need to board before you arrive at the station or stop.

Do you need an ID to get on a Amtrak Cascades train?

Yes, Amtrak Cascades requires you to present an ID to an agent to be allowed to board the train. Make sure you have identification issued by a government agency that meets the carrier’s requirements. Alternative IDs, like a college ID, won’t work.

Can you use your phone to board Amtrak Cascades?

Yes, you can board Amtrak Cascades by showing your E Ticket on your phone. The E Ticket is emailed to when you make your reservation. To save yourself the trouble of digging through your inbox to find your ticket, get the Wanderu app and pull up your ticket with one click.

Are there bathrooms on Amtrak Cascades trains?

Yes, there are bathrooms on Amtrak Cascades train trips. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

Are meals or beverages offered onboard Amtrak Cascades trips?

Amtrak Cascades provides snacks to satisfy your hunger during your travels. Check with the carrier if snacks are for sale, and pack a credit card and some cash in case you get hungry.

Do you have to print your Amtrak Cascades ticket?

Amtrak Cascades does not require a printed ticket to board the train. An E Ticket is sent to you by email that you can load on most electronic devices. You will want to have your ticket ready to be displayed as you board for the agent to scan. We recommend you download the Wanderu app, as it gives you super easy access to E Tickets for your upcoming trips for most carriers. As back up, road warriors recommend taking a screenshot of your E Ticket. That way, you won’t be fumbling around in case your internet connection cuts out.

Does Amtrak Cascades offer any premium features like extra legroom, movies or TV?

Amtrak Cascades goes the extra distance to deliver up-class offerings to its customers. Do you find yourself squished in a regular seat or just love having extra room to sprawl out? Well you’re in luck as Amtrak Cascades advertises that they offer extra legroom seating. Since there is no standard of what extra legroom is, the extra space you might get varies from carrier to carrier, but getting extra is always good.

Amtrak Cascades serves travelers in United States of America, Canada with train service to 18 destinations. These are the most popular Amtrak Cascades schedules and routes.
