Pros: I'd never visited the northwest and it was a great way to see a bit of the country. The price was a bit more than the bus but much less than renting a car, so it was an easy decision. Cons: My car had no power to charge devices. The conductor unsuccessfully tried to reset the breaker. And a larger point, not specific to this trip, but our country needs affordable, dependable high-speed passenger rail. What a difference it would make!

Pros: I took the Seattle to Eugene train ride that involved a transfer to a bus in Portland. The transfer was very smooth with great signage. The bus seat was as comfortable as the train seat and the wifi worked very well. All through the trip, staff provided information on how we were to find our place and what to expect. I will do this again. Tips: Comfortable, clean, safe and easy. Staff were terrific. Better than driving.
