Helpful info about taking the bus from Ithaca to New York

Heading from Ithaca to New York City? Here's everything you need to know:

Ithaca has 4 main bus stations, with 130 E Seneca St being the most popular, but be sure to check which station is most convenient for you. Students may want to leave from the Cornell campus, or maybe you want to shop while you wait at the Urban Outfitters on E Green Street. Not all bus carriers are available at all stops, but, with Wanderu, you can easily compare trips from different stations and carriers to choose the one that suits you best.

Regardless of where you depart, the trip will take around 4 or 5 hours, but time flies by when driving through the rolling green landscapes of New York and Pennsylvania. And while you won't be able to see the famous office building, you will pass by Scranton, PA about halfway through the trip (in case you needed a reason to rewatch The Office). From there, the views will become more urban until you'll be able to sneak a peek of the NYC skyline from the front of the bus. You might get a slightly better view from the windows on the right side of the bus, but you'll get more direct sunshine through the middle of the journey.

In New York City, you're naturally going to have more options in bus stations. Port Authority is especially popular due to its proximity to Penn Station and its overall location - it's only a few blocks from the Empire State Building - but there are plenty of arrival locations across the city for your convenience. The George Washington Bridge Bus Station is (unsurprisingly) by the George Washington Bridge, much further North of downtown New York City and arguably closer to Yonkers than the Big Apple. For the most flexibility in arrival, consider a trip on OurBus, which goes to the greatest number of stops in the city.
