Pros: Kind employees on both Amtrak Silver Star and NCbyTrain Piedmont. The conductors on the Piedmont were so understanding and were helpful when I was having trouble getting myself and luggage onboard (injured hand). Those guys were funny as well as willing to converse with passengers. Hospitality goes a long way and with me being a repeat customer. I will travel with them more often. Thank you! Cons: Have free coffee, water, or tea included in the price of a ticket on Amtrak Silver Star like they have on NCbyTrain (Piedmont). Also, if there is not an employee available, have a vending machine for snacks. My glucose seriously dropped, the employee left for an hour. The dining car just opened at 6 am. I went to make a purchase at 6:30 am. No attendant. There was a problem that could have been handled a bit better. Thankfully, I found sugar packets to tie me over. I am aware there were vending machines at the terminal. However, there was an announcement that the dining car was opening at 6 am. No notice of when it was closing or that it would close. Tips: Please help the train staff by putting your trash in trash bins that are provided. Also, if you get on the train during sleeping hours (10 pm through 6 am), be respectful of other people by being quiet, not yelling for whatever reason. It is just simple kindness. :).
