How to Get to Levi’s Stadium: Light Rail, Parking and Getting Back

If your plan is BART to the 49ers game, it gets you only as far as Milpitas. Levi’s Stadium is in Santa Clara, about 40 miles south of San Francisco, and the everyday train there is VTA light rail. Ride it to Great America station on the stadium’s north side for $2.50. From San Francisco, take Caltrain to Mountain View and then the Orange Line.

Most buses and trains from other cities pull into San Jose Diridon, and the Green Line runs from there to the stadium in about 40 minutes with no transfer. Tufesa buses stop at their own San Jose curbs instead. If you’re on a San Jose-bound Capitol Corridor train from Sacramento or Oakland, ride it to Santa Clara-Great America, right next to the stadium.

What’s the best way to get to Levi’s Stadium?

The best way to Levi’s Stadium is VTA light rail to Great America station on the stadium’s north side, a $2.50 ride as of October 2026. Driving means a parking pass bought for that game.

Which train takes you to Levi’s Stadium?

Great America station, on the north side of Levi’s Stadium, is the light rail stop, and as of October 2026 the Green Line takes about 40 minutes from San Jose Diridon with no transfer. The Orange Line from Mountain View takes under 30 minutes.

How to pay: A ride is $2.50 with Clipper, a contactless card or cash at the machine. With Clipper, a ride includes two hours of transfers. The $5 8-Hour Light Rail Pass costs the same as two rides and covers the trip back if you board within eight hours of buying it. It’s sold only at light rail ticket machines. A day pass is $7.50.

How do I get to Levi’s Stadium from San Francisco?

From San Francisco, take Caltrain south to Mountain View and then the VTA Orange Line to Great America. It’s about an hour and a half door to door.

  1. Caltrain to Mountain View. Board at 4th & King or 22nd Street. It’s $8.50 one way across three zones. For the round trip, the joint Caltrain and VTA day pass is $24.50 at a Caltrain ticket machine, or two Caltrain tickets plus the $5 8-Hour Light Rail Pass if you’ll be back within eight hours.
  2. The Orange Line toward Alum Rock. Ride 12 stops.
  3. Get off at Great America. The station is on the stadium’s north side.
  • Older pages call it route 902. It’s the Green Line now.
  • Event schedules: VTA usually posts each event’s schedule at least three days ahead.

Where to park at Levi’s Stadium

Levi’s Stadium lots for 49ers games open 3.5 hours before kickoff and close 2 hours after the game ends, as of October 2026. Passes are sold per game on Ticketmaster, and every lot is cashless.

  • Buying ahead: the stadium recommends a prepaid pass from its parking page, and day-of lots are limited and may cost more. Ticketmaster shows the price for each game when you buy.
  • Concert parking: opens at 4 PM for Bruno Mars, three hours before the show.
  • Where the lots are: most sit west of the stadium, across San Tomas Aquino Creek and Great America Parkway. The Yellow lots are north along Tasman Drive, and Green 6 and 8 are south, past the Great America theme park.
  • Oversized vehicles: passes cover vehicles under 17 feet. Buses and RVs buy ahead by phone or email.
  • Tailgating: only in lots marked for it, and only at sporting events rather than concerts. Tents up to 8 by 8 feet and barbecues are fine. No glass, no amplified sound, and it ends at kickoff.

Parking is per car and the light rail is per person, so the bigger your group, the better driving looks.

Driving in from Sacramento or Fresno: three people pay at least $219 round trip on the Capitol Corridor from Sacramento, which stops at Santa Clara-Great America, or about $58 in gas plus parking, so driving wins unless parking costs more than about $160. From Fresno, three people pay at least $213 by bus, train and light rail, or about $80 in gas plus parking, and driving wins unless parking costs more than about $130. The ride home decides the rest: after a night game the train reaches Sacramento after midnight while driving gets you home sooner, and from Fresno the train means a night in San Jose even after an afternoon game.

Prices checked October 1, 2026: fares from the routes below, gas at $6.40 a gallon and 25 mpg, tolls left out.

Park and ride

Caltrain station lots cost $5.50 a day, paid at the ticket machine or with ParkMobile. VTA lists 20 park-and-ride stations for Levi’s events, including Milpitas and Tamien.

How do you get back from Levi’s Stadium after a game?

As of October 2026, VTA runs extra light rail from Levi’s Stadium for about an hour after every event, boarding on the Gate A side facing Tasman Drive. To get back to San Francisco you need the last Caltrain from Mountain View: the last regular Orange Line leaves Great America at 10:13 PM, and VTA’s Route 200 bus to Mountain View leaves Tasman Drive at Calle Del Sol at 10:43 PM.

A 49ers game runs about three and a half hours, so the 5:15 PM Monday night game lets out around 8:45 PM, well before the last Orange Line.

  • San Francisco

    Last way home
    To get back to San Francisco, catch the Orange Line from Great America by 10:13 PM or the Route 200 bus from Tasman Drive at Calle Del Sol by 10:43 PM, then the last Caltrain, which leaves Mountain View at 11:48 PM on weekdays or 11:49 PM on weekends.

    If you miss the last Caltrain connection, the way back to San Francisco is a rideshare.

  • San Jose Diridon and downtown

    The last regular Green Line to Diridon leaves Great America at 11:13 PM and reaches Diridon at 11:52 PM.
    The catch
    The 11:43 PM Green Line trip ends at Santa Clara station, short of Diridon.

  • The East Bay

    Last way home
    The last Orange Line to Milpitas leaves Great America at 11:20 PM, and BART runs on from there.
    The catch
    BART’s last train north from Milpitas leaves at 11:53 PM.

  • Sacramento, Davis or Oakland

    Last way home
    The last regular Capitol Corridor train north leaves Santa Clara-Great America at 8:18 PM on weekends and 7:10 PM on weekdays.
    The catch
    After each night event, Capitol Corridor plans a late train north, so check Capitol Corridor’s site for the time. On Jan 3 the 8:18 PM train leaves later instead.

  • Stockton

    Last way home
    ACE’s event train runs back to Stockton from Santa Clara-Great America at a set time after the event; on Oct 19 it leaves at 9:24 PM.

    ACE’s train leaves on schedule whether or not the game has ended.

San Jose (SJC) is the closest airport, about 6 miles from Levi’s Stadium by road, and VTA Route 60 plus the Green Line reach Great America in about 40 minutes for $2.50 as of October 2026. No airport has a direct train: SFO takes about an hour and a half by BART, Caltrain and the Orange Line, and OAK about an hour by BART’s connector and a Capitol Corridor train.
