Amtrak

Pros: What a nightmare!! Due to the lack of posting of train information at the ALX station and the less-than-helpfulness of the Amtrak staff, I got on the wrong train. I had purchased what was supposed to be a round trip ticket from CLM to ALX, but when I checked my ticket, it said Washington! The staff said, no problem, just get on the train. 1.5 hrs later a train going south pulled in, but with a 93 number instead of 19. The conductor for the train just hurried everyone on without checking tickets, etc. I got on the train and down the track, he scanned my ticket and told me I was on the wrong train, mine was behind us. He would put me off at the next station and I could catch it. Well he put me off in Fairfax, telling me the next train would get me to Florence, SC. What!! My truck is in Clemson, SC, some 200 miles away. Too bad, he said, you shouldn't haven't gotten on the wrong train. No personnel, no phone, no restrooms, at the Fairfax station. I was in a panic. Calling the main number was another exercise in futility, no help! I called an Uber driver and caught my train in Charlottesville. It was running 4 hrs late. One of the worst trips of my life, and my last on Amtrak. So if there was a zero or negative rating, that is what I would give. Cons: Customer service!!! The agent in Charlottesville was WONDERFUL, however. Tips: DON'T.
