Daniel

March 11, 2024- Visiting family

New York to Montreal

Cons: Seat assigning, temperature on the bus ( the front was cold while the back was overheating). Tips: Watch out for stops and changing bus! We had to wait 1h30 outside because the office was closed for the next bus in the snow. Definitely not worth the discount. There’s also no assigned seats so we couldn’t seat together and a lot of people put their bags no the seat and pretend to sleep to avoid anyone seating next to them.

New York to Binghamton

Pros: It was quiet. Cons: Bus status was not available online from either the Trailways or PABT website, which made me worried that I was going to miss the bus.

Adirondack Trailways Bus Guide & FAQs

Adirondack Trailways, New York Trailways and Pine Hill Trailways are sub-brands of the Trailways of New York transportation company. Each brand operates as an individual business with its own network of routes and services.

Yes, Adirondack Trailways offers WiFi on their buses. Although most trips with Adirondack Trailways will have WiFi as advertised, some buses might not come equipped with WiFi and onboard WiFi can lose its connection in rural areas. We recommend you bring a book or download a movie just to play it safe. Adirondack Trailways WiFi is generally best used for surfing the web, checking emails and chatting with friends; you shouldn’t count on the WiFi to binge watch your favorite show.

Yes, there are power outlets onboard Adirondack Trailways buses. You can generally find one or two sockets per row of seats, so be a good traveller and check if your seat neighbor might want to charge up their devices as well. With the onboard power outlets, you can charge both a computer and USB devices with a USB power adapter that typically comes with most phones and tablets.

Since Adirondack Trailways might sometimes use replacement bus vehicles, not all trips are guaranteed to have power points. We recommend to bring a power bank to charge your phone for all trips over 2 hours, just in case.

On a typical day, Adirondack Trailways has 926 scheduled bus trips in total. However, the exact departure and arrival times vary depending on the day and route. The best way to find the exact schedule for your trip is to use the search tool on this page.

Adirondack Trailways allows you to stow one piece of luggage in the baggage compartment free of charge. The carrier requires that all your bags have an identification tag with your name and phone number. You are allowed to bring up to two more bags for a fee. The total dimensions of each bag (combined length + width + height) should not exceed 62 inches. Also, your bag should not weigh more than 50 lbs (22 kg). If you are planning to check in more than one bag, keep in mind that the total weight of all your stowed luggage may not exceed 100 lbs.

You are also allowed to bring one carry-on item that can fit easily in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you.

As Adirondack Trailways travels to some of the best outdoors destinations in the Northeast, the carrier also allows you to bring the following sports equipment with you and stow it in the baggage compartment:

  • Skis & snowboards – these may exceed 45 inches in length as long as they are securely wrapped in suitable material such as canvas, nylon or leather.
  • Bicycles – these may not exceed 8 x 32 x 60 inches, and they must be securely wrapped and fastened in a box, canvas or other protective material.

As the name suggests, Adirondack Trailways provides transportation to and from various destinations in Upstate New York and, specifically, in the areas surrounding the Adirondack Mountains. The carrier’s network includes daily trips that connect towns like Kingston, Syracuse, Utica and Glens Falls with main travel hubs like New York City, Albany and Montreal.

Yes, there are bathrooms on Adirondack Trailways buses. The bathrooms are pretty basic and include a toilet, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Most bathrooms don’t have running water. As you will be using a bathroom on a moving vehicle, please use caution and hold on to a rail at all times.

All Adirondack Trailways tickets available on Wanderu fall under the carrier’s Saver Fare category. Because of that, all reservations are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

If you are looking to reschedule your trip, the carrier requires that you visit their kiosk at your nearest bus station in-person to make the change. You will be required to pay a $20 fee plus any difference in price.

In certain cases, Adirondack Trailways will authorize a refund on a non-refundable ticket. Such cases include death of a traveler, traveling companion or immediate family member, serious illness, jury duty, and military service. All requests must be made prior to the scheduled date and time of departure. To consider your request, the carrier requires that you provide proper documentation confirming the special circumstances. For more information, please visit the Wanderu Help Center to chat with our team.

Yes, Adirondack Trailways requires that all passengers have printed tickets to board the bus. When you book with Wanderu and activate your account, you will be able to easily find and download your tickets for most buses.
